It is an opportunity for children to explain their experiences of their parent’s separation to someone outside the family. It is not about asking their children to choose. It is about recognising and understanding that children have their own human rights within the context of family separation.

Both parents sign a letter of consent which includes various principles and info and they agree a letter of invitation to the children
 
The logistical planning for setting up the meeting can be quite different for each family. There are a variety of options. It needs to be flexible, designed, planned and a step by step process.
